From April 17th through the 18th, 2010, Benedict XVI will travel to Malta. The pastoral visit will mark the 1950th anniversary of St. Pauls shipwreck on the island, which, according to tradition, took place in the year 60 during the apostles trip to Rome. The Pope will arrive on Saturday afternoon, April 17th. This is Benedict XVIs 14th international apostolic journey, and the third time that a Pontiff will have visited the Mediterranean archipelago, after John Paul IIs visits in 1990 and 2001.
